Isabel Marant Pour H&M Paris Show : The 90's Street Celebration
After a day wandered around Paris full of excitement and long-bath at the hotel, I finally arrived at the venue of Isabel Marant pour H&M Show. The guests were brought into a street slice of Paris, in the early 90s, the time when Isabel debuted her eponymous line: brasseries, neon signs, pizza shops, souvenir shops, epiceries, street vendors and people casually enjoying a stroll in the outdoors. The collection, as confirmed by the officials, includes her most iconic pieces from her career. Roller-skate arena, crepes corner, ice cream stalls were built inside the show's venue at Tenis Club de Paris in Village Boileau. This is a launching celebration before the whole collection being launched on November 14 in around 250 stores worldwide and online.

"We wanted to present the collection in a way that felt real and casual, not a red-carpet extravaganza: this is how I see my work. I design for everybody and am constantly inspired by the world I see around me, so it felt natural to have an urban setting as the backdrop of the event. And it had to be Paris, because the city is part of my DNA," says Isabel Marant. "This street celebration was the perfect way to launch a collection that oozes the energy of cool Parisian style. It felt optimistic and real: a reflection of Isabel Marant’s knack for urban sophistication and bohemia. I think the collection for women, men and teen captures her spirit and I hope our customers are as excited as we are for the launch," says Margareta van den Bosch, Creative Advisor at H&M.
We can see many enthusiasts including Audrey Tautou, January Jones, Freida Pinto, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Olga Kurylenko, Alice Dellal, Alek Wek, Melanie Doutey and Lou Lesage gathered in the show night. Everyone dressed up enchantingly casual but chic, street-style alike at its best, in pieces of Isabel Marant pour H&M clothes.
The fashion show was set to be filmic, and dramatic. Models were first showed up from a secret chamber in each side of the wall surround us, one by one simultaneously. We look around to see where they will showed up again, and suddenly the light went off. Models ran into the center stage, and surrounded by us, they started to dance as the music played loudly. Absolutely cool!
During the pop-up store line up, we can see the live performances by Grandmaster Melle Mel and Rappers Delight, originally of Sugarhill Gang. Crowds were dancing around fashionably - to precisely describe one of the most stylish kind of crowd I ever seen - and blended together along the bohemian street atmosphere created by the surroundings and choices of music. I danced a little because I was too excited wandering and looking around.
This night show was that kind of show that assuring me how magical world can be sometimes, even without Disney (sorry Walt). When you step into the world of H&M and Isabel Marant like I did that night, you learned a bit more about yourself by seeing so many different people around you who, even though dressed in their own personal way, can relate to the same excitement and emotions when being put together in a situation. And for a bit, you lost yourself in other's made-up world, feeling completely drown by its sparkling flows… Until again, you found that the night had to end, and you start your journey again - refreshed.
Thank you H&M for the miraculous opportunity with Isabel Marant! Au Revoir!
